Je nach L\u00e4nge eines Jahres handelt es sich um eine krautige Pflanze, die zwischen 1,5 und 3 Metern wachsen kann. Die Bl\u00e4tter verj\u00fcngen sich allm\u00e4hlich zum Ende hin in Form langer, d\u00fcnner Speere. Die R\u00e4nder der Bl\u00e4tter sind ganz, wellig, mit einer gro\u00dfen grauwei\u00dfen Hauptader in der Mitte und parallel dazu erstrecken sich ein Dutzend rechte und linke Seitenvenen. Die m\u00e4nnlichen und weiblichen Bl\u00fcten stehen getrennt, befinden sich aber auf derselben Pflanze. Die weiblichen Bl\u00fcten sind Quasten, die aus dem Kolben kommen. Von dort wird angenommen, dass diese Pflanze in unserer Sprache Mais genannt wird, da sie vom afrikanischen Festland \u00fcber \u00c4gypten in unser Land gebracht wurde. Das t\u00fcrkische Klima ist gut f\u00fcr \u00c4gypten geeignet, daher wird es gro\u00dffl\u00e4chig angebaut.<\/p>\n<p>Sammlung &#8211; Lagerung: Gereifte Maiskolben werden gesammelt, getrocknet und daraus wird St\u00e4rke oder \u00d6l gewonnen. Maisquasten werden im Juni oder Juli gesammelt, im Schatten getrocknet und in speziellen geschlossenen Beh\u00e4ltern gelagert.<\/p>\n<p>Bekannte Zusammensetzung: Die K\u00f6rner der Maispflanze enthalten viel St\u00e4rke und unges\u00e4ttigte Fetts\u00e4uren, Vitamin A und Sterole. Die Inhaltsstoffe der als Medizin verwendeten Maisquaste sind: Zucker wie Glukose und Maltose, Sterole, Harz, Kaliumsalze und \u00e4therisches \u00d6l.<\/p>\n<p>Verwendung: Aus Maisk\u00f6rnern gewonnenes Mais\u00f6l als fl\u00fcssiges pflanzliches Speise\u00f6l verhindert bekannterma\u00dfen Arteriosklerose. Dar\u00fcber hinaus werden Maisk\u00f6rner aufgrund ihres N\u00e4hrwerts in der Futtermittelindustrie f\u00fcr Tiere verwendet. Mehl wird aus seinen K\u00f6rnern gewonnen.
